Founded in 1981, Xiangfan Science Museum is located at the Northern part of urban district of Xiangfan City. Covering 4.4 acres, it is built in the garden-like style, manifesting its harmonious beauty.
Many science popularization activities have been launched based on the major function of the museum since its foundation. And it was entitled as "Popular Science Educational Base", "National Defense Educational Base", "Drug Prohibition Educational Base", and "The Base for the Improvement of Children's Welfare" by Xiangfan municipal government.
In 2002, Xiangfan Science Museum was authorized to be the first "Regional Popular Science Educational and Exhibitional Centre" at municipal level. After the large-scale remodeling and redecoration in August 2003, the museum was rejuvenated into a brand-new look. The newly built 1200 square meters exhibition hall, which is open to public all year round, is divided into exhibition areas for acoustics, optics, and electricity, for aviation and aerospace science, for virtual automobile manipulation, and for dinosaur world.
